The Angus Network. Since the age of three, Chris has been exposed to the angus business. His father was a well-respected veterinarian. He was the herd advisor to Meadow Lane Farm in New York during the early 60's with a reputation for sound and prosperous advice. He was then hired by Permier Beef Cattle Corp to serve as Director of Animal Health, whom at the time was one of the world's largest cattle operations with over 85,000 head of cattle across the globe.

Chris has pursued his interest in Angus cattle since 1971 when he and his family purchased their first Angus cows from Mahogany Farms. The herd known as Thistledew now numbers 150+ head and is based on a small ranch southwest of Billings, Montana.

Chris helped build and establish the well-recognized Sterling-Hunter program in Michigan, where some of the breed's most popular cows reside. Some of Chris's selections include GAR Precision 706, Ideal 4465, and the up-and-coming marbling leader Enamel 3191. Chris has more recently selected many of the foundation cows for the Texas based, premier, Rutherford Ranch program and is consulting for Fair View Ranch out of Montana.

The Angus Network was started for three primary reasons:

  • To offer a convenient and easy way for sellers to offer private treaty cattle, embryos, and semen to others.
  • To provide a marketing means for small herds in order to effectively sell cattle via a private treaty assisted consignment sale.
  • To help large breeders connect with smaller breeders of whom share common goals and seedstock needs.

The Angus Network accomplishes this effectively because:

  • The Angus Network will use Internet exposure whereby the seller will have the opportunity to offer an animal to the masses. This will aid in completing a sale as the buyer now knows he must make a decision to purchase before a competitor does.
  • We will back up our Internet business with advertising to draw additional visitors to our site.
  • Relationship selling through herd visits and personal contact.
